Gray Manor sits at Park House Cross in Cholderton, where the A303 meets the A338 between Andover and Amesbury, which makes it easy to find for guests driving in from across the south of England. The hotel is run by a family team and its grounds cover close to five acres of gardens and parkland, with free parking for around 100 cars.

The hotel holds a full ceremony licence and has three rooms where you can marry, so a small ceremony does not have to happen in the same big space as the meal. The main banqueting room seats up to 180, and with that in mind, a party of 30 or 40 will want to talk to the team about which room suits them best. You can book the whole hotel for exclusive use if you want the place to yourselves. The kitchen does the wedding breakfast from a choice of menus, and overnight guests get a hot buffet breakfast the next morning. Music and drinks can run until midnight.

Staying over is a real strength. There are 24 superior bedrooms in twin, double and triple layouts, each with its own bathroom, plus a large couple's suite with a circular bed, a double Jacuzzi and a separate dressing room. In all the hotel can put up around 60 wedding guests, and the team will help find extra rooms nearby if needed. Two bedrooms are adapted for wheelchair users.

Families tend to like it here. Children and well-behaved dogs are welcome and there is a play area in the grounds. The gardens also give everyone space between the ceremony and the meal. With Salisbury nearby and the hotel's own restaurant and bar on hand, guests making a weekend of it are well looked after.
