About
Stanford Farm is an award-winning, exclusive-use barn wedding venue nestled in the picturesque Shropshire countryside. This family-owned farm offers couples a relaxed, flexible space to celebrate their way with multiple stunning ceremony locations including 19th-century stables, a lakeside pavilion, and woodland areas. The venue features three rustic barns, onsite accommodation in the farmhouse, converted double-decker bus, hobbit huts, and bell tents, plus a tipi and Nordic Nook. Perfect for couples seeking authentic countryside charm with complete creative control over catering, décor, and celebration style.
Stanford Farm works on a three-day model, and that shapes everything about a wedding here. You get exclusive use of the whole site from the morning before to the evening after, either midweek from Tuesday or over a Friday to Sunday weekend, with the exclusive season running from April to October. It suits couples who want a long weekend with their people rather than a few hours in a function room. The farm has been in the same family since 1916 and has hosted weddings since 2010.
There are several licensed places to marry. The Stables is the indoor option, an old barn full of character. Outside, the Lakeside and the Woodlands are licensed too, and the Celtic Knot is another popular outdoor spot for ceremonies. After the ceremony, drinks happen in the courtyard and the Cowhouse barn takes the meal, speeches and dancing. The Stables, licensed for up to 100, is the most compact of the licensed spaces and a good fit for a smaller group.
Catering is entirely your call. You bring your own caterer, whether that is formal dining, a hog roast, street food, pizza or fish and chips, and the farm can suggest names. Bear in mind that tables, crockery, glassware and linen are not supplied, so these come through your caterer or a hire company. The bar is staffed by the venue, and there is a free collection of reusable props and décor to borrow.
Up to 30 people can sleep on site across the five-bedroom farmhouse with its hot tub, four hobbit huts, a converted double-decker bus, a shepherd's hut and a railway wagon that is yours free for the wedding night. Camping is available for guests too, and there are local B&Bs within a few miles. Dogs are welcome and midweek parties finish at 11pm. Fireworks are not allowed because of the neighbouring horses.
