Tabley Hill Chapel is an intimate wedding venue licensed for civil ceremonies, located just outside Knutsford town centre. Built in 1901 and recently renovated in 2021, this charming venue features an octagonal hall with high vaulted ceilings and accommodates up to 50 guests. The chapel offers exclusive use for your special day with straightforward pricing (£450 weekdays, £600 weekends). On-site facilities include accessible facilities with baby change, a kitchenette, and multiple photographic backdrops including rustic stone walls, flower-lined driveway, and views overlooking adjacent fields. The flexible venue welcomes personalized touches and can arrange recorded music or champagne.

Tabley Hill Chapel is a ceremony venue first and foremost. It was built in 1901 at the centre of Knutsford cemetery, is Grade II listed and is now looked after by Knutsford Town Council as a community building. A refurbishment in 2021 brought the octagonal hall back to life, and the cemetery around it is still in use, with the grounds carefully kept.

It is a lovely size for a small wedding. There are 50 cushioned chairs, so 50 guests sit comfortably, and two short pews can take it to 60. Hiring the chapel gives you sole use of it for your day. It is licensed by Cheshire East Council for civil ceremonies, so the registrars come to you; check their availability when you enquire, as their fee is paid separately to the hire. Recorded music can be arranged and the team is happy to talk through other ideas, and real petal confetti is welcome both inside and out.

The building is simple and practical. There is an accessible toilet with baby changing off the hall and a small kitchenette with a sink, fridge and microwave. The chapel can lay on glasses and buckets for a toast after the ceremony, or you can bring your own fizz, and some tables with cloths and a PA system can be arranged. For photographs there are old stone walls, a driveway lined with flowers, a rhododendron border and trees looking out over neighbouring fields.

The honest caveat is that this is not a full wedding venue. There is just the one hall and only basic catering, so plan on the ceremony and a toast here, with the meal and party somewhere else nearby. A deposit secures your date, and you can hold a date provisionally while the rest of your plans come together.
