The Mill Forge Hotel is a charming venue just two miles from Gretna Green, set within historic Grade-B listed buildings dating back to the 1700s. This quaint complex offers couples everything needed for their special day in one stunning location, including a unique ceremony venue, multiple reception spaces, and comfortable ensuite accommodation. Whether planning an intimate elopement for two or a celebration with guests, The Mill Forge provides tailored packages with professional photography, fine dining, and a luxurious bridal suite.

The Mill Forge sits in Kirkpatrick Fleming, two miles from Gretna Green, and it handles the whole day under one roof, from the ceremony to the bed you fall into afterwards. Civil ceremonies take place over the anvil in the venue's own ceremony room, led by a registrar or civil celebrant, and there is also a shortened religious service with a choice of local ministers. The ceremony room seats 40, with standing space for around 30 more, so a group of twenty or thirty fits comfortably.

The packages are tiered by size. The smallest is for just the two of you, the next works for twenty or so with a four-course meal and photographs included, and the top tier gives you exclusive use of the venue for forty or more, with 19 guest rooms on bed and breakfast. Receptions run across three function rooms in the converted mill, with menus that cover vegetarian, vegan and children's choices, plus buffets if you prefer something casual. The kitchen will adapt dishes for allergies.

All 33 bedrooms are en suite and include breakfast, ranging from family rooms sleeping three to five through to doubles, twins and singles, along with a four-poster suite for the couple. After the ceremony, the gardens make an easy backdrop for photographs, and a wedding planner is on hand throughout the day.

Practically, Scottish law means your marriage paperwork must reach the Gretna registration office at least 29 clear days before the wedding, but you do not need to stay in the area beforehand and can arrive on the day itself. If you are eloping, the venue will provide witnesses free of charge. Midweek offers are available. The caveat is demand: Gretna is busy, and the venue recommends booking your date and time early.
