Kilrie Granary is a beautifully renovated 19th-century events venue and self-catering cottage nestled in Central Fife's picturesque countryside. The exclusive venue features two adaptable event halls—the Granary Hall (accommodating up to 50 guests) and the Long Gallery (seating 80)—plus expansive gardens ideal for outdoor ceremonies. Surrounded by conservation heathland, a duck pond, and a historic 17th-century mill wheel, the venue offers a tranquil natural setting perfect for intimate to mid-sized weddings. Just 35 minutes by train from Edinburgh and near renowned golf courses, Kilrie Granary combines accessibility with secluded charm.

Kilrie Granary near Kinghorn in Fife is a self-run, build-your-own kind of venue, which suits couples who like to choose every supplier themselves. The wedding package gives you exclusive use for 48 hours, from noon the day before to noon the day after, so there is time to set up at a gentle pace and clear away without rushing the morning after.

There are three spaces to work with. Ceremonies happen outdoors at the Mill, in front of an old 17th-century mill wheel, with the Granary Hall as the wet-weather fallback. The Granary Hall itself takes about 50 for a drinks reception or a dance but only 22 for a sit-down meal, so for a seated dinner most weddings will use the Long Gallery, a room roughly 23 metres long that seats 80. The overall limit is 60 day guests and 80 in the evening, which puts a wedding of 30 to 50 right in the middle of what the venue does well.

Catering is not included. The venue keeps a recommended list that covers caterers, a hog roast supplier and a cake maker, along with florists, photographers and equipment hire. You can bring your own drinks for a per-head corkage charge. Ceremonies cannot start before 2pm and guests need to head off by midnight.

On site there is also a refurbished self-catering cottage that can be booked by the night, handy for getting ready or for close family. Edinburgh is an easy train ride away, and the venue sits roughly a mile from the Fife Coastal Path, with several golf courses close by. Because so much is arranged by you rather than the venue, it pays to budget time and money for caterers, a bar and any marquee early on.
