Branxholme Castle is a historic Scottish venue nestled in the heart of the Borders, three miles southwest of Hawick and within 50 miles of Edinburgh, Carlisle, and Newcastle. This meticulously restored castle offers an enchanting setting for intimate weddings, combining timeless elegance with natural beauty. The venue features on-site accommodation in charming B&B rooms and two luxury holiday cottages with hot tubs, an exclusive spa for guest relaxation, and an Orangery café. Weddings at Branxholme now centre on a luxury barn conversion on the estate, which the venue planned to open at the start of 2026. The barns are fully furnished for the reception, with a dance floor and a lighting rig for the evening, while the castle and its grounds are yours for photographs. The published wedding package is costed around 40 guests, so a small wedding is the starting point here rather than an afterthought, and extra guests can be added. For something smaller and more casual, the Orangery hosts private parties of up to 35 all year, with its own bar, a log burner and toilets on hand.

The package covers drinks and canapés after the ceremony, a three-course dinner, wine on the tables for the toasts and bacon rolls later in the night. There is a fully stocked bar and all crockery, glassware and linen are supplied. A wedding coordinator looks after the day itself. For everything else, from flowers to music, the team hands over a list of local suppliers.

Staying over is a real strength. The package includes two nights in a suite for the two of you, plus two nights of bed and breakfast for four adults and two children. You can also take the two self-catering cottages for two nights: East Wing Cottage sleeps eight and Branxholme Cottage sleeps four. Both have hot tubs, private gardens and barbecue areas, and dogs are welcome in them. The day before the wedding, the wedding party can use the castle spa from 3pm to 8pm.

Hawick is a few minutes' drive away, and Edinburgh, Carlisle and Newcastle are each within roughly 50 miles. One thing to check early: the website does not spell out where ceremonies take place or whether a celebrant can marry you on site, and the barn is built for up to 90 day guests, so ask how a group of your size will be set up on the day.
