Bruisyard runs two quite different kinds of wedding, and for a small party the one to look at is the Hall wedding. Here the whole thing happens inside the historic house: you marry in the Entrance Hall, the Drawing Room or, in summer, out in the walled gardens. Then you sit down together at a single banqueting table in the dining room, which takes 30 guests comfortably. In colder months the Drawing Room, with its log fire, is a cosy place to gather.
The estate is licensed for civil ceremonies. Food comes from the in-house kitchen under a Head Chef who builds menus around regional and seasonal produce, either from scratch or starting from one of the set menus, with vegetarian and vegan plans included. A list of recommended suppliers covers flowers, cake, music and make-up.
Staying over is a big part of the appeal. The Hall has 15 bedrooms and the estate can put up around 30 guests overnight, and Bruisyard leans into longer celebrations. Its three-day format gives you the whole estate, barn and grounds included, starting with a relaxed dinner the evening before, then the wedding itself, then a lazy final day with brunch and either a Sunday lunch in the dining room or a barbecue in the walled gardens. A two-day version is also offered, and the three-day format can run midweek as well as at weekends.
The grounds stretch to roughly 700 acres of informal Suffolk countryside near the coast, with plenty of space for photos and walks. If your list creeps above 30, the restored 17th-century barn seats up to 140, so it is worth deciding early which version of Bruisyard suits you, since the Hall format is built around that one table.
