Lyme Breeze sits on Wood Lane East in Adlington, on the edge of Macclesfield, and is part of the Wilshaws group of Cheshire venues. The building has been reworked as a rustic, relaxed space, and its canalside spot means some guests can turn up by narrowboat and tie up right outside. For everyone else there is plenty of parking.

Inside, the main rooms are a lounge bar and a function room, and outside there is an alfresco terrace, a landscaped garden patio and a so-called secret garden that is used for outdoor ceremonies. You can marry indoors or out, and the venue describes itself as licensed for civil ceremonies. The dining room handles up to 80 for a formal meal and around 100 for something more casual, so a party of 30 to 50 has room to spread out between the bar, the terrace and the garden without the place feeling empty.

The model here is all-inclusive. There is no separate venue hire fee, and packages fold in the room, food, drink and service along with a dedicated in-house wedding planner. The venue's own chefs prepare the food fresh and the same team serves it, and you can take a set food and drink package or build your own from the menus. Standard dressing of the room comes as part of the deal, with upgrades if you want a particular look. The venue is pet friendly, so it is worth asking if a dog is part of your plans.

The honest caveat is that there are no bedrooms on site, so guests travelling any distance will need to book somewhere nearby in Macclesfield or the surrounding villages. It suits couples who want a straightforward, one-stop day in the Cheshire countryside more than a weekend stay.
